Since starting my Food Instagram, I've visited some pretty yummy places in the the LA and OC area. These discoveries are obviously too good not to share so let's get right into it!
Where: 18558 Gale Ave. #158 Rowland Heights, CA
What: freshly made & rolled ice cream
Why: I know this is all the rage right now, but the hype is real. They basically have this really cold round plate, where they pour the ice cream mixture. It freezes up as they mold it to an even texture, and they roll it up. Think Cold Stone in regards to preparation, but definitely more work. You can also add toppings and syrups! They have a wide selection- cereal, pocky sticks, mochi, animal cookies, fruit, honey grahams, and the list goes on. You can add it in the base (under the rolled ice cream) or as an actual topping for a yummy and cuteness factor. The rolled ice cream is literally out of this world, but they also serve regular ice cream in fun flavors, if you're not into the rolled creamery craze.
Where: wherever the truck takes them! follow @ridgeschurrobar on Twitter for their schedule and updates!
What: CHURRO SUNDAES!
Why: I've literally seen them all over IG & so when their truck was at the OC Night Market, I knew I had to get my hands on one! I love churros, cinnamon toast crunch, and ice cream so to know that a churro sundae existed made me so happy! So if you're like me and love all those things, definitely get the cinnamon sugar churro sundae! They also have other flavors like strawberry shortcake, salted caramel, fruity pebbles, and nutella nut.
Where: 575 N Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, CA
What: Ice cream sandwiches
Why: Let me begin by letting you know that this not an ordinary ice cream sandwich place. Don't let their small space fool you. They have fun yummy ice cream flavors like ube, poprocks, and my favorite, thai iced tea! Their cookies are also eclectic in flavors like lucky charms, ube, birthday cake, Reeses & Rolos. Oh and they also have churro and match green tea flavored cones!
Where: Fountain Valley, Chino Hills, Rowland Heights, Irvine, Long Beach, Tustin, Pasadena, Cerritos, and Costa Mesa.
What: Milky bun ice cream sandwiches
Why: It's like eating ice cream & Krispy Kreme at the same time. SO GOOD. The "milky bun" as it's called, is warm that the ice cream just melts in your mouth and when paired with the perfect toppings, becomes a transportation device to foodie heaven. (I'm being extra of course, but you get what I mean.) Besides their cool toppings, they have unique ice cream flavors such as jasmine milk tea, cookie monster, churro, vietnamese coffee, banana walnut fudge, and many more.
Where: Anaheim Packing District, 440 S. Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA, 92805
What: Gelato in cone shaped crepes
Why: Their choices of gelato are pretty slim, but the flavors are in the crepes. They have different types of spread, fruit, drizzle, and topping you can choose from. (It is too many to list here.) You can select all the aspects yourself or get one that they've already crafted (The Tried & True Menu) which is sure win for your taste buds. The one pictured below is a fruity pebbles one from the Tried & True Menu, and as you can see, it's pure joy.
If you got a little sweet tooth after reading, I'm sure you're not alone. Just remember, it's okay to indulge a little because life is too short not to have dessert. :)
